Multi media training manual

The European Journalism Training Association has released a handbook aimed at those training journalists to work in multiple mediums.

The “Tri-Medial Competences in Local Journalism” is a three-part publication created to train European journalists to work with converging print/audio/video mediums in the age of the internet. The publication includes a curriculum manual discussing convergent-media competencies, a set of modular materials for teaching the “Tri-Medial Concept” and a train-the-trainers manual to help journalists to organize courses and teach other journalists.

It is available in English and Dutch. Both are PDF.

I have just started wading through it.

  1. I was looking at the suggested reading material listed, back about page 105. In my opinion, there are far too many articles listed from 1999 and 2000 and 2001. Today’s Web is light-years away from what the Web was in 2001. Even some texts from 2005 are too far outdated to be of any use today.

On the other hand, some of the course outlines look quite sensible. the one on page 48 (Photoshop) looks good. The one of page 51 (Flash animation) looks less so.

  2. The link to Tri-Medial Competences in Local Journalism appears to be broken. I’m very anxious to see this. Could you email me an electronic copy? Thank you.
